How much money are we talking and where can I get
the thermostat. Would love to run 8,000 between
changes as long as it's good clean oil. Thanks
Jerry.

-Go with a cooler and daul filters. Use a wix 1773
-filter and put a thermostat in the oil line to
-prevent over cooling the oil.
-If this doesn't add enough oil use bigger filters.
-I have this on my IDI 7.3L and works fine and oil
-changes are no harder.
-Has anyone put an oil temp gauge on after like the
-Banks stage three kit to see what the oil temp is?
-You might need the cooler.

-----
-----Howdy Janos!
-----
-----I'd say there are two factors enabling
-Navistar's
-----longer oil change intervals.
-----
-----1. Higher oil capacity. The T444E holds 17
---quarts
-----vs. the 14 in the PowerStroke version of the
-----engine. The difference probably results from
--Ford
-----using a smaller oil pan to fit within the
--confines
-----of the F & E-series vehicles. Since diesels
are
-----epsecially prone to soot accumulation in the
oil
-----(and the resulting wear that can occur), the
---higher
-----capacity of oil translates in the ability to
-hold
-----more soot in suspension before a change is
-----necessary.
-----
-----2. The Extender filter technology. Now, I'm
-not
-----exactly sure how Navistar makes and/or specs
the
-----Extender filters, but the 8,000 mile interval
is
-----always footnoted as requiring the Extender
---filters.
-----I'd say they're at least partially synthetic
-with
-----the ability to trap finer dirt & wear
particles.
-----
-----Best Regards,
-----Jay
