[Thread Backward] Re: Mileage/Power break-inMsg # 5106 of 8004 on Powerstroke Diesel Conference (1)To: Dave, From: Randyr Time: Tuesday 01-27-98, 03:37 pm I've been waiting for all this to subside before posting. I have a 97 250HD SC 4x4 4:10's E4OD, I was one of the original "Bad Mileage" posters about two months ago. I was getting 12-13 MPG with 900 miles on the engine. I was told by a number of people that it was not broke in until up to around 14,000 to 20,000 miles. I now have almost 4000 miles and am pleased with the mileage. I just put 4 gals. in a totaly dry tank, ran it on cruise control on the freeway, flat and level at sea level at 2000 RPM's which is 63-64 MPH and only a few blocks in city driving and got 21 MPG. My average with stop and go driving is around 17.5-18.5. All the Diesel around here is straight #2, and I don't use any additives. I hope to get upwards to 19 by the time it breaks in.
