I read an article about a year ago about tests with
rapeseed (conola) oil at the University of Idaho.
They said that the fuel was blended because
of clouding problems at low temperatures. I also
read that there are people using soy diesel, which
is supposedly available in the midwest at a number
of locations. I think the cost was around $1.60/g
if I recall correctly. There was no mention in the
articles about conversions, so I assumed they
just filled up the tank. I would be afraid of
using any of these fuels in the winter. They
would likely gel up and you would be stuck. My
first winter here in Minnesota with my first diesel
taught me a lesson about fuel gelling up.
