[Thread Backward] Re: Biodiesel?Msg # 5133 of 8004 on Powerstroke Diesel Conference (1)To: Claus, From: Doug Hanz Time: Tuesday 01-27-98, 08:34 pm I read an article about a year ago about tests with rapeseed (conola) oil at the University of Idaho. They said that the fuel was blended because of clouding problems at low temperatures. I also read that there are people using soy diesel, which is supposedly available in the midwest at a number of locations. I think the cost was around $1.60/g if I recall correctly. There was no mention in the articles about conversions, so I assumed they just filled up the tank. I would be afraid of using any of these fuels in the winter. They would likely gel up and you would be stuck. My first winter here in Minnesota with my first diesel taught me a lesson about fuel gelling up. On Tuesday 01-27-98, 06:45 pm, Claus said: -Does anyone have any information about the -viability of fueling the Powerstroke with -biodiesel? I have seen references elsewhere that a -2.5L DI Ford diesel can run on biodiesel with -minimal conversion (replacing a plastic plug -somewhere with a metal version). Replies to this message:
