We've got 2 '97's, one mid-year and one late and
there's no way either is anywhere close to 9
seconds stock. I personally find it hard to
believe these trucks can accelerate that fast when
stock.

-Then I wonder if this big jump in performance
-coincided with the uprating of the Powerstroke to
-225 HP? After running mine through timing last
-night, I certainly wouldn't describe the 0-60
-acceleration as slow. It burned the tires off of
-the line and broke them loose again very noticably
-at about 40 mph. I'm not sure if that was third or
-the torque converter locking but the speedo jumped
-to about 50 before falling back to about 45 and
-still accelerating strong. If the '96s don't do
-this, then maybe Banks ran an early '97? I think
-we arrived at the conclusion that the 225 hp rated
-engine came along sometime during the '97 model
-year. If this is the case, that is a very
-substantial decrease in time for such a modest HP
-increase. The thing that is really interesting is
-that these things are running 0-60 in pretty much
-the same time as the Banks Stinger plus systems.
