Took the beast in today to get the front springs
checked as they seem close to the stops (2 and
13-16th from rubber stop to the top plate on the
axle.) The "friendly Ford dealer" sed there was
a tsb out but it would cost me $62 for them to
tell me if i qualified for it as i'm 1300 miles
out of warrenty. I also wanted the PCM reprog'd
to 97 specs. That would cost another $31 for them
to see if it could be reprog'd. If the springs
needed the tsb that would be another $700 but he
sed he would "work with me" on that. What a sweetie
as the springs hadn't sagged that much in the last
1300 miles. Well, the "tech" sed the
springs were within specs. The PCM could be
reprog'd-surprise, surprise!! The total bill was
for 1 hour's labor ($62). The original quote was
a scare tactic i think. Anyway, the reprog'd PCM
doesn't turn on the glow plugs after the truck is
warmed up but does anyone know if it changes
anything else? I didn't notice any significant
change but there might be something i haven't
detected yet. I guess if i want more clearance
between the stops in the front i'll have to do
that on my own. PS-I understand the tsb is for the
250's and some early 350's but he seemed to think
i might qualify.
