Phil,
Yeah, that's a help - looks like you have big
seasonal variance, but only a small improvement due
to breakin, and breakin seems to have concluded
prior to 10K miles, as noted by the lack of
continued improvement.
BTW, what are the particulars of your rig, is this
unladen highway driving or if not, what, and at
what speeds? What are your seasonal temperature
variations?
And no, I do not find your tone to be the least out
of line, as I have with others.
I agree that every driver is different, but I
disagree that it is by any means axiomatic that all
vehicles are substantially different. I know for a
fact that the service tolerances that Ford uses are
extremely large, compared with other areas, and
that this allows them reduce costs by making lower
quality vehicles, without having to pay for it in
increased warranty claims.
I also agree that we are worlds ahead of gas
engines, but that isn't what I'm addressing. I'm
not looking to split atoms here, but I simply
didn't pay big $ to replace a functioning vehicle
with another having inferior performance,
particularly given widespread claims to the
contrary.
I enjoy good argument as much as the next person,
and certainly don't mind a bit of personality, but
the kind of stuff that I've gotten isn't
argumentative as much as it is, to put it as kindly
as I can, dismissive. And that is simply not
constructively contributive.
If one comes at a situation with low or nonexistent
expectations, the other party has little incentive
to improve. Higher expectations will perhaps result
in occasional disappointment, but will, if not
inspire, at least hopefully spur, the pursuit of
excellence, and I have a hard time finding a lack
of virtue in that.
Again, thanks,
David

-Here are the numbers I have found:
-0 to 5000 miles-- 14.2 mpg winter
-5000 to 10k miles-- 17.2 mpg spring
-10k to 15k miles-- 17.2 mpg summer
-15k to 20k miles-- 17 mpg fall
-20k to present-- 15.2 mpg winter
-Is this what your looking for?
-Now for the editorial portion of the post!
-Every vehicle and driver is different. It would be
-nice if my truck got 20 to 25 mpg but it doesn't. I
-am very satisfied on the milage I am getting out of
-the truck. I run the piss out of my vehicles.
-Compared to the 5 to 11 mpg I got with gas motors,
-I'm in heaven! No one is attempting to disrespect
-you, just that this subject has been beat into the
-ground. If you have read this page for anytime you
-would realize that most people editorialize in
-their posts. Realize if you ask a question expect
-an answer whether you like the answer or not. I
-like the personal insight of peoples opinions, even
-if they are off track of the subject. That is part
-of the reason I keep comming back. I have been in
-the middle of a few heated subjects myself. I can't
-get mad at someone for having their own insight and
-opinion on a topic. That is how we all learn from
-each other. We are not splitting atoms here, we are
-discussing a truck and a motor for god sake.
-If you feel my comments are out of line e-mail me.
-But expect a response if you do!!!!!!!!
-Phil
