[Thread Backward] Re: Firestone tiresMsg # 4958 of 8004 on Powerstroke Diesel Conference (1)To: Headhunter, From: Charlie Time: Sunday 01-25-98, 04:48 pm On Sunday 01-25-98, 04:34 pm, Headhunter said: -Two recent blowouts on Firestone tires, took them -to a Firestone Factory store...they refused to -adjust them... a lot of excuses boing down to a -blowout doesn't justify warranty adjustments, guess -I won't be purchasing Firestone tires next time -around If you want to stick with stock 235s, Michelin Pilote XPS Traction or Highway Rib are all-steel casings plus 3 more steel plies in the tread area. The sidewall rubber is very thick. They will not blow out unless underinflated. I have been driving on Michelin all steel tires for ~450K miles over 28 years with no blowouts or other sudden failures, only 5 or 6 slow flats due to nails, once a 1/2" railway spike which I drove on for 300 miles before I noticed it. It didn't leak until I pulled it out. They're the best, they are somewhat expensive, and you get what you pay for. Charlie Replies to this message:
