[Thread Backward] Re: Mileage/Power Improvement After BreaMsg # 4997 of 8004 on Powerstroke Diesel Conference (1)To: Guest, From: Phil Time: Monday 01-26-98, 03:15 am My driving is mixed 60% city and back roads, 40% highway at speeds of 65 to 75 mph. My truck is a 1997 F-250 SC automatic 4:10 gears 4X4 with 285- 75R16 BF goodrich tires with tonneau cover on the bed. I live in the D.C. area temperatures range from about a 100 in summer to near 0 in the winter. This winter has been mild in comparison, only dipping in the twenty's and once this year in the teens. My truck has never varied much between city and highway. I would not say that break in is complete on these motors until 25k to 30k miles. That comes from friends that have the same truck and experienced a jump in mpg in that range. We could spend all day going back and forth about the differences in a like vehicle. Strict tolerences or loose a motor and vehicle will run and operate totally different in performance and handling. To make a statement that low expectation brings little or no incentive to improve. Is totally out of line. Everyone that visits and participates in this site has the thirst for knowledge and the willingness to learn. But when you hash and rehash a subject to the point of nausea, whether it is new to you it is old to the rest. People do get tired of a subject and dismiss new request for information. Jason has graciously provided a search at the top of the board. If you were to utilize that you will most likely get all the information you desire. And realize the extent in which it has been discussed in the past. Phil Replies to this message:
