Ford Reprogrammer
#1598065 - 01/18/04 01:28 PM

I've got a guy that wants to sell me a Ford Reprogrammer, p/n F5TF-12B640-AB. I dont know what exactly this thing does, so any input would be valuable. He said it was manufactured in Sept. of 98, if that helps.
Thanks!

No, not yet. I think it's a small, hand held type thing, but not sure. What does a PCM do?

Hey, thanks for taking the time!

So, what can a guy do with one of these things? Is it worth buying?

First of all, I would find out exactly what it is.

Based on the p/n you gave, it still sounds like a PCM to me!

Based on some of the part numbers HERE I agree it sounds like a PCM, but I couldn't match any of the other info

Yea, I noticed that and I'm not sure how complete that list is or if it's a reflashed PCM how that effect whatever he might be looking at. My PCM is an HPI2 and the list shows it as an HP12

I've got the part here, and I e-mailed you some pics. Feel free to post them if you can!

It's a black box, 4"x6"x2"deep, it's got a small DRO, small rubber (possibly illuminating) buttons; four of these(^), both up and down on the right side. Along the top edge it's RPM control, charge protect, and power, plus an oval Ford emblem button . It's got 4 wires coming out the side(black, tan, white, and red) w/ a round, 4 post male quick connector on the end.

Anyone know??

I think that might be a AIC controller, it's used to make the idle higher so u dont wet stack the motor when your letting the truck idle for a long period of time...I could be wrong but thats what it sounds like to me by your description.

That's an AIC and if DRO means digital read out and it's functional IMO is something you'll find useful and it like $600 over the counter or $300 by other sources. It has a digital tach and actual voltmeter display options and a lot of other neat features. Not sure about the connections, but all SD's have an AIC plug on them and the unit is basically a plug and play ... someone else will have to help you locate it since it sort of hides up around the Steering oolumn or parking brake pedal. There was/is an AIC manual link somewhere here.

Thanks ALL!! Yup, it's an AIC. I did a search, found out some of its benefits, and I think I'd like to play with it a little.
Where does the thing plug in at?? I looked up under the dash near the e-brake pedal, but didn't see an obvious connector.

The connector is attached to the cross member at the bottom tf the large fuse panel, almost directly under the steering colum.

Somewhere, there is a link to the AIC manual. You might search around the archives and see if you can find it.

Ah a quick search of the archives for "APCM manual" yielded THIS THREAD and in the post by spepin had a link to THIS ... you might want to print that off and keep it.

Thanks guys! Not exactly a reprogrammer, as advertised, huh?
After some more searchiing in the archives, it doesnt look like something I'll have much use for. Is this sites classifieds section a good place to find a buyer for this item?

Thanks again!
