Diamond plate bedcaps
#264530 - 08/07/00 12:48 AM

Do the diamond plate bedcaps install over the plastic factory ones or do you remove the plastic first? If you remove the plastic, how?

I don't know which manuf. you have, but my experience is on top of the plastic...FYI-Better Built makes a sculptured rail cap to cover your OEM rail.

kickin, my bed caps installed over the plastic on the bed. If you need to take the plastic off to install yours, remember to put down some type of rubber or plastic between the metal and the bedcaps.

Before you buy, you might want to check with a few people who have the diamond plate bedcaps. A friend of mine had them on his Ch*vy and found that the diamond surface scratched up his arms all the time. He uses his truck for work (construction) and was reaching into his bed all the time for equipment/tools. He tried filing down the sharp edges and ended up with the clearcoat peeling off. It was a mess.
