Anyone out there know anything about Interco's new TRXUS all terrain. To be specific 39/15/16.5? I'm thinking about buying some but need some feedback.
Thanks Garrett

Actually I just saw some yesterday for the first time. Asked about them because they had a good price on them. I was told they were great in sand but not the best in mud or on the freeway. Like I said - just what I was told.

Supposedly in a 16.5 they are 8 ply, quiet, and reasonable smooth on the highway. I'll be going up from PJ 38x15.50's. which I have no complaint about except that they wore a little faster than I hoped. I was looking at these because I dont want Mickeys and have heard too many horror stories about TSL. Any comments?
Thanks Garrett

Anybody else have any input on these tires? I think that they would be a good A/T tire. Also, who carries these tires? I've been searching around without any luck.

Where are you buying them from?
I did see them on "Trucks" today as well. Now I all need to do is buy the tires, new rims, and an 8" lift!
Oh yeah, new rotors and brake lines too according to the show...

The 39's are bias ply and don't ride as well as the 38's. Not a very good wet road tire IMO. See my sig for pics.

I had some 38's on my truck and the wife has the 33's on her truck. Best All-terrain tires I ever driven on...smooth,quiet,vibration free.

I've got a set of 44 STSs on my X and am installing a set of 39.5/15-16.5s on an HD today as well as a set of 39.5/15-20s on 20x12 Welds on another truck. It is a smooth quiet tire. The only possible down side is they are very soft and I don't believe they will have much tread life. Only time will tell. BTW, they look much better in person than they do in pictures.

I've been running my 39.5s since November. I have probably around 4500 miles on them, and so far they seem to be wearing good. Of course rotation and balancing is the key. I think they actually are wearing better so far than the 38 Parnellis I had before. I think that they also ride better than the 37 Goodyear GSAs that I ran during January.(they are my long distance-highway tires). they took less weight to balance as well. They seem to amplify my bump steer problem though. Hopefully I'll correct that this weekend. (installing ORU x over finally!) How do those big fat 44's ride/track?

No idea but they seem like a little tougher compound that alot of M/T's. I've only got about 1,500 miles on 'em. They sure do dig good though If you want, shoot me an e-mail and I'll send you a couple pictures of them on mine.

Sorry, 40" PJ's are a myth...not happenin.
Some guy on the Ford Truck World called PJ and they said they knew nothing about a 40" tire coming out and were not planning on any in the future.

There still could be hope because I remember about a year ago I called Dirt Grip and asked them about the 38x15.50r17 I heard were in the works. At that time I had 17" wheels. They told me they had no idea what I was talking about and there was no future plans. Now look, they have them now and I still have my 17" Weld Typhoons laying around the garage, UGH.

Actually,,I talked to another shop and they said the same thing........40" PJs for 18" & 20" wheels. I figure they're not telling the public about them but probably reps are telling shops about them.

Ptsuperd,
The tires hunt around a bit on our local rutted roads as should be expected of a tire that wide. Not bad though. I still can drive with one hand.

Once again Lane authoritatively chimes in with unsupported second hand information.
At the request of forum member HeavyFC I spoke directly with a rep. at Dirt Gripz Inc. in Akron about another matter and during that conversation was informed of the new sizes coming later this year. I didn't ask about them. I was informed about them. I would never have expected such sizing. I was told specifically that the 40s would be available in 18 & 20s. Believe it or not the PJs are produced by Interco, the same people who produce the 39.5/15-20 STS, so it is not that much of a stretch to believe that this tire would be produced.
Just because some alleged guy allegedly called what was most likely a local distributor who didn't know anything about it, doesn't mean it's a myth.

Just curious. Thinking about going to 44s eventually before I grow up and either sell the truck or take it down. I cant handle boggers, although they look awesome. I do way too much highway driving. Here's my question: #1 44-18.50 fun countrys or 44x21 sts. Which will ride/wear better/longer? I have no experience with the fc's. #2 can I run the 21 wide sts on a 12" wheel? What's your input? After the x over steering, I will have alot more options. By the way, thanks for all the great inside information.

Ptsuperd,
This is just my opinion but I personally don't like the look of the 44 FC. I've had a set on 14" wheels and they look too bulged or like the actual tread is not wide enough. The STS don't suffer from that problem. The STS also ride better and are quieter. Again, I don't know about thread life. In that regard my guess is that the FC would have an advantage.
You can run the STS on 12" wheels. In fact here is a shot: Taz 44 STS
They do look a bit sucked in to me but then again they still look that way on 14s. I was even thinking about having a set of 16" Welds custom built. It is very expensive though and I ran out of time. As it is we still lack several things and the photo shoot for Four Wheeler is on the 25th. Maybe I'll do the wheels for SEMA.
Thanks, I'm just trying to be helpful in something that I love.

Yes, they are coming down for a few days to shoot my X as well as do a story on 4 wheeling on South Padre Island. Several of my customers will caravan (their Edge equiped) SDs out in the dunes. Should be pretty cool.

That flamed ORU truck from Off-Road mag now has 14" lift.........if you look at ORU's site under X-Treme Toyz it has pics of the same truck pre-flames with 12" lift and 44" Boggers. They fit since the center pin of the front spring is pushed forward and the warn semi hidden winch mount moves the bumper 5" out I think,
Hope this helps.

SWEET .......I think I'll need to get me 2 copies of that issue. On the real good issues with pics of SDs, the cover tends to fall off since I look at them so much

DC,
I doubt I'll make the cover. You don't see black truck on the cover of magazines very often. Four Wheeler is doing an all black truck issue though. Most likely Tomas from N-Fab's flamed HD will get the cover. He is the one's hooking me up with Pat Maxwell to get my paint done as well.

I haven't seen the HD on the STS. I would imagine it looks better than it did on the FCs. Baudel has 44 STSs on his black H2 as well. They must be doing ok.

DC, and anyone else interested... I just got info today. There does not appear to be any 40" PJs on the horizon. PJ themselves have claimed no knowledge of these tires, nor do they plan anything as such. They said they are concentrating on the 18 & 20" tires, but nothing over the 38s. Oh well, the 38s will fit my truck fine (that will be 16" size 4 me). Now, who started this vicious 40" PJ rumor anyway!?!???

Lane,
You should have kept up with that thread and seen my post on 3/12 on Pg. 6:
Quote:
Hey Guys,,,,,,,I found out from another shop owner about the 40" PJs..asked if he had heard and said yep,,18" & 20" rims! Looks like I'm hoping to be running 40" PJs on 18" Welds with 12.5" Edge lift!!
Since Napalm came up with nothing, I figured I'd try to confirm it and I was told the same thing that Overkill had said.

Hey Lane, I totally agree. What the heck was that all about? All you did was posted what you had heard, nothing more. Overkill, I know Lane and he's a super guy willing to help out anyone. The slam on Lane was totally uncalled for. Lane has never confessed to being the know-all expert on these trucks, now you on the other hand seem to come across to think you know everything there is to know about SuperDuties. Don't sweat it Lane, I think he's just jealous that your truck looks better than his..... Tim

Lane,
I'm not sure how, but somewhere along the line we got off on the wrong foot. Maybe I just misinterpreted your message as a slam as I was the one who first mentioned that PJ was planning on releasing the 40s. In retrospect I realize that you may not have know this to be the case so I apologize for jumping to conclusions. I'm sure that we will run into each other soon. As a matter of fact Kreg and I will be at the Texas Truck & SUV Show in Dallas on May 31-June1. Maybe we can sit down and have a beer and put all this ugliness behind us.

Tim,
Having reread my message I would actually agree with you. It was uncalled for and out of character. Maybe I was just having a bad day, but I'm a big enough man to admit when I'm wrong. Beyond that, sometimes our demeanor is lost in electronic communication simply based on our writing style. What one might interpret as being a know it all, might in reality be offered as a helping hand. Experience does count for a lot when making or considering recommendations. Anyhow, no doubt about it, Lane does own a nice truck.

Denny,
The HD is still here waiting on the Weld 20x12s. I've got pictures of a couple of Dodges and a Suburban on 39.5 STS on 20s. They do look cool. If you want to see them shoot me an e-mail and I'll pass them along.

DrSpeed...LOl..As you can see from the above activity the 40" PJ's are not exactly out yet but you can see a picture of the 20" Trxus STS on the "new shoes" post by Mr. Superduty.

Anyone interested in the 40"PJs, I found this post over at FTW:
Quote:
40" PJ update. They will be releasing these in the 16 & 16.5" rim size in August, so figure Sept/Oct in reality. The 18 & 20" are due out later than that, due to they just ordered the molds for them, and haven't set any production run dates yet. This info comes from PJ themselves. I've started my layaway fund already...
Overkill, you know anything about this
If this is the true.........SWEET
