#2216606 - 01/20/05 04:56 PM

I am new to this, here goes,I have a 1986 F-250 6.9 Diesel,4x4 4 speed manual trans, about 364/000 miles the truck runs strong.Iam the 3rd owner it has been well taken care of.I recently found the block heater leaking ,so I removed it now I cant find a replacement I went to napa the had the same one in a catolog but did not have a part # to order it.the part# on the heater is (MADE IN CANADA)LR1843-1000W-120V.

I would greatly appreacate any help.

The sencond issue I found is a leak between the transfer case and trans (Borg-Warner)again napa could not help with the gasget between the two.

THANK YOU GHM11

PS: I live in Florida notb much need for block heater but I use it because the truck starts better less wear and tear.

Another Fl IDI'er. Whereabouts in Broward Co. do you live? My g/f lives down there so I will be there back and forth a few times. Not much need for ablock heater even in Gainesville, but when its below about 45 it's nice to have. Mine doesn't work! Doesn't leak either that I know of.

I can't help you with the block heater question, but I just went through the leaking tranny/tcase union. It turned out that my tcase was only being held on by 2 bolts (the truck was given to me in a small state of disrepair). I couldn't get any of the parts stores to get the gasket and the ford dealership only had the gasket in between the adapter and tranny, not the adapter and tcase. I was needing the truck right away so I used the right stuff rtv and it has held up wonderfully. I suspect your bolts are probably slight loose also. It looks like the previous owner has done this before also. Hope that helps.
