I am the Senior Technical Engineer with IMPCO Technologies, Inc. My company has become aware of an article posted on your web site that describes a dangerous modification to one of our products.

As for your information the IMPCO Model J regulator is a two stage regulator designed to reduce the tank pressure to a primary pressure of 1 to 2 PSI and further reduce the primary pressure to a secondary pressure of -1.5 inches water column.

The modifications as described in the article eliminates the ability of the regulator to reduce pressure and regulate fuel flow. The result is an unregulated, uncontrolled flow of fuel at full tank pressure which can be as high as 312 PSI. The uncontrolled, unregulated fuel flow can cause a very dangerous explosion and fire condition which could result in property damage, serious injury or death.

WARNING: Improper installation, maintenance or use of IMPCO products may cause property damage, serious injury or death.

SERVICE TECHNICIANS AND USERS:
Carefully read and abide by the provisions set forth in the National Fire Protection Association Pamphlet #37 for Stationary Engines, Pamphlet #52 for CNG Vehicular Fuel Systems, Pamphlet #58 for LPG Systems, or Pamphlet #505 for Industrial Trucks.

INSTALLERS:
LPG installations in the United States must be done in accordance with Federal, State, or Local Law, whichever is applicable and National Fire Protection Association Pamphlet #58 to the extent that these standards are not in violation with Federal, State or Local Codes.

In Canada refer to CAN/CGA-B149.2, Propane Installation Codes.

Failure to abide by the above will void any IMPCO warranty or liability on the product and may cause property damage, serious injury or death.
