ISSUE:
Some vehicles may be hard to start after the fuel injectors have
been replaced. This may be due to air being trapped in the
high pressure fuel lines.
ACTION:
Before installing fuel injectors, dip the fuel injectors in engine
oil. By dipping the injectors, the oil purges the air from the
oil passages and reduces the possibility of air entering the
injector. Refer to the following Service Procedure for
details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Dip the injectors in oil up to slightly higher than the upper
groove. Install the injectors as outlined in the 7.3L DI Turbo
Diesel Service Manual Supplement, Pages 03-04E-17 and 03-04E-18.
| NOTE: |
BE SURE TO USE CLEAN, HIGH QUALITY ENGINE OIL THAT MEETS
OR EXCEEDS OIL SPECIFICATIONS OF DI TURBO DIESEL APPLICATIONS. |
