Re: Fuel Filter/seperator drain o-ring replacement...my first write up

Just did mine last night. HOLY CRAP! I wasn't bargaining for that. The actual mechanical act of taking the valve off and replacing the o-rings was as simple as pie. But getting at the dang thing was a major PITA! It took me about 2 hours (including 2 smoke breaks to let my chest rest from laying on it in the engine bay).

Special note for those of you who need to do this fix: Get a 1/4 drive air ratchet!!!!!! If I had had that, I think I could have done the job in less than an hour. But trying to use one of those little 90* angle T-20 drivers...forget it! I ended up using a manual 1/4" drive ratchet with the T-20 bit, and I had to hold a small pair of pliers in my other hand. Why? because once the bolts were broken loose, they did not provide enough resistance to make the ratchet, ratchet. So I'd turn the bolt a 1/16 of a turn (about all you can get down in there), then squeeze the pliers to hold the socket still while I got a whopping 2 or 3 clicks out of the ratchet...and reapeat..lots of times! And no, I couldn't get my big ol' hands in there to unscrew them with my fingers, nor could I get my hands in there and properly positioned to turn the socket by hand. Just wasn't happening.

But its done now..no leaky leaky, and I won't have to mess with it for another 75k hopefully!

Oh and thanks to "jgarden" for the o-rings. Nice instructions with a pic included to. Nice touch Jack!
O-Rings
One sugegstion though Jack, can you put the o-rings in a small back or tape them to the instructions? They were loose in the envelope and when my wife opened it over the trash can, they fell in the trash and she didn't even see them! She asked me why you mailed those instructions to me instead of emailing them. I said, "no..he mailed the o-rings where are they?" Well I could tell that they were in there because the inside of the envelope had clear signs of them being there. I eventually found out where they were!
