Re: Fuel Filter/seperator drain o-ring replacement...my first write up

Mine sprung a leak. But it wasn't the drain valve, it was the water-in-fuel sensor...that thing right next to the drain valve (the same thing the fuel heater plugs into). It also has two O-rings in contact with the fuel, but they are a different size than the 2-Viton #202's that the drain valve takes. One is smaller and one is thinner. So I had to purchase the F81Z-9C065-AA o-ring kit from Ford (5 O-rings). $36.50.

Then come to find out it was the sensor itself leaking, not the O-rings. Under pressure fuel was passing through the housing of the little sensor itself, via the little spade for the fuel heater plug. Probably extremely rare and almost impossible to differentiate from an O-ring leak diagnosis.

Anyway, if the O-rings don't solve your leak, you might want to check the WIF sensor, and its two O-rings. I would recommending replacing not just the drain valve O-rings, but the WIF O-rings too. Cause sooner or later....
