Re: injectors

FWIW...03 (job 1) C94 f.i. were replaced w/C95's and supposedly only C 95's used starting May 03-03. Maybe a pic. around here somewhere, but redesigned C95..

Improved clevis design eliminates root cause..plunger side load from spring. Meaning C94 f.i. plunger suffers from side loading which then causes raw fuel to flood and enter the engines's oil crankcase or hydro-lock the engine. Both occurrences are so disastrous to an engine that a total replacement engine is ofter required.

Apparently if enough fuel gets into oil = major oil dilution = major internal damage. AFAIK FMC thinks 6% f-n-o is ok.

Rough running e. is possible sign that the f.i. may be failing. Other potential signs that your engine may be included in FMC 6L fatality index (fmc refused recalling ALL C94's) are a rise in the engine oil's dipstick level or a higher than usual smell of diesel fumes/emissions. I do ck. my o. regularly.

This whole issue was early own called...03 6L PSD f.i. "Tickin time bombs" & appears that prediction was true based on reports here. Althou I think many here are still running orig. C94's. I'm one of those. Mine only has 30K mi (have 2nd ride) My C94's outlasted (so far) my h.g./turbo. Kinda ironic.
