down pipe

Just wondering how hard it is to remove the facory down pipe and if it is worth upgrading to a bigger down pipe? I am planning a custom 4" exhaust to exit infront of the passanger rear tire and want to know if I should change the down pipe or not. I don't plan on any crazy horsepower parts down the road so is it needed or not. Also what brand and size is recommeded. Thanks in advance.
