Questions after 1st long trip. Driving Techniques, MPG, gauges and more...

Put 1200 miles on the X Monday and Tuesday, Omaha to Denver and back. Pulling a 14'x7' single axle flatbed trailer. My first long trip. This thing just GOBBLES up miles. I love it! Got 14 going out empty and 15 coming back with one 300lb bike on the trailer, hand calculated. Drove 70-75.

I have AFE intake, Diablo 78hp chip, gauges, and a Banks back half exhaust. I was hoping for better mileage than that. Is it wishful thinking?

I was trying to minimize boost on the trip, and after thinking about it thought that maybe that was wrong. When driving for maximum fuel economy, what is most important? Boost, throttle position, or RPM? In non-turbo gassers I was taught that throttle position had the biggest effect on fuel economy.

Yesterday on the way home I found a flat place in western NE and took some gauge readings at various speeds. (My EGT probe is installed POST turbo, I know I need to move it, just have not had the time.)

65 mph 1800 rpm 4 lb Boost 500 egt
70 2000 6 520
75 2200 8 550
80 2400 10 590

These sound reasonable to you? Do the boost levels seem high?

Does the chip cause more fuel to be burned at higher speeds/rpm? I would like to drive 80-84, (speed limits here are 75) but I am scared as to what my mileage would be. Would a milder chip improve this? (If so I see a flip chip in my future.)

Gauges: The EGT gauge was fluttering for part of the trip, it went totally dead at one point. At another point the EGT and trans gauge quit working at the same time, but then fixed themselves soon after. Sounds like an electrical problem to me. Where do I look first?

Thanks guys!!
