Anything over 2000 rpm is going to SUCK the fuel down. Try to keep it below 2k and see what happens.

Also I've heard that 600 degrees F on the EGT is optimal anything higher is wasting fuel....don't know about the validity of that.

Staying in boost on a diesel is a good thing, it'll keep the EGT's down.

RPM seems to be the biggest factor in fuel economy on these trucks from what I've read and experienced....stay at or below 2k rpm and you'll be more happy with your fuel economy.
