Re: 1st Tow with V-10
I towed 10,000 pounds with my 7,500 pound (w/cap) V10 dually for 700 miles from Indy to New Jersey with only 1 stop for gas. I got 10 mpg which is only about 1 to 1.5 mpg less than I get unloaded. I had plenty of power, and 80-85+ was easily maintainable, even through the hilly PA turnpike.
The best part was I was actually able to carry on a conversation with the passenger and needed no Advil because the V10 was so quiet, and the only smoke we saw was in the rear view mirror coming from the powerstrokes.
I have 90K miles on the truck so far and besides a leaky axle seal, the only other repair so far has been 2 sets of brake pads. The engine is still humming like it's brand new, and I drive the piss out of this thing every day. My friends say I should stop trying to drive it like my Porsche. Through all this abuse, it still has the original rotors after 90K miles, and they are still well within spec. Let's see a diesel do that!!!!!
