I think the problem you have is that you are driving 70. Even my fuel miserly 3.73 7.3L's millage would start to got the c**p above 55. You want a big truck either slow down or eat the fuel.
No matter which of my trucks I have driven there is a sweet spot rpm wise where they just purr along and sip the fuel. Find that and stay there.
