OEM Tire Problems?
I have an 05 X Limited with 15,000 miles. The OEM tires are BF Goodrich LT265-16-E RWL. They were just replaced under warranty because of cracks around the circumference on all 4 tires. These were not weather checking but actual cracks running the full circumference of all 4 tires about 1 inch from the rim. The spare did not have this problem and the vehicle is stored under a carport so they were not exposed to the sun. And I check the pressure on a regular basis. Manufacture date of the tires was early 05. I have not read anything about this problem so I don't know if its widespread or not. They replaced the tires with the same tire so I don't have the warm fuzzies about them. If they had not been replaced under warranty I would have replaced them myself. The Service Advisor said that Ford approved the replacement very quickly. I guess Ford is a little leary of tire problems after Firestone.
Has anyone else had this problem with these tires?
