PCM module died in F450

As some of you may already know I had to have my F450 towed last week, but have waited to make a post until the truck was fixed so I could report exactely what happened.

My truck at about 40 miles per hour with 24000 pounds on behind just shut off. I was able to coast to the side of the road. I removed the backhoe from the goosneck trailer I was towing and called Ford Road Side Service. The truck was covered and they stated that they would cover the first $200.00 dollars for towing the trailer. It was not an issue as the tow truck driver towed the F450 with the goosneck attached.

On Monday my local ford dealer figured out that it was the trucks PCM (Computer) By Wenesday they had the part and got me back up and running today. I can't see the computer being a common issue, at least let's hope not, as sudden stalling in traffic is pretty dangerous.

The truck has black soot in the exhaust, a reliable diesel mechanic at the dealership believes it is not a problem. They also did the reflash for fire breathing and I did not seem to lose any power.
Thanks,
Marc
