Fuel Capacity E350 2003

I checked my owners manual and searched online. All the information says I have a 35 gallon tank. Yesterday, and this is the second time, I put in 35.8 gallons. I pulled up to the pump running, no sputtering, nothing. The low fuel light was on and the guage was in the middle of the red zone. I probably could have put more in but I was tired. I never have got it to the point where I see clear fuel at the top of the neck. Does anybody know the exact specs? I have heard rumors the 2003 has a 37 gallon tank. Yes, I know I should not have run that low but I had driven all the way from FT Smith, AR 600 miles and wanted to be through Birmingham, AL before rush hour.
