My torque converter apparently went bad, wouldn't lock out. I knew something was up when I lost about 3 mpg this past winter. The other possibility is that you have a bad TC seal. If the TC is still locking out, that may be all it is. I wouldn't try to get out of your truck just because of this, used values are really low and if that's the only problem with your truck, fix it and get on with it. Find a reputable tranny shop and get an estimate for both repairs. You may consider an aftermarket TC like Suncoast if you have to replace it. Maybe put in the Sonnax and Tricumulator mods too. If it's gotta be apart, might as well strengthen it.
