Transmission Temp

I just finished installing gauges (autometer ultra-lites) this afternoon and was wondering what is normal operating temp for the E4OD? If I remember correct it should be around 210-220. Here is the problem; My gauge will creep all the way up to 250-255 under normal driving conditions. Thinking maybe my gauge or sending unit was faulty I slaved in a autometer water temp gauge (100-250) and sending unit using new wires and the temp stays the same. The fluid level is full and only has about 10k miles on it. Is there a problem with my transmission? What would cause this? Thanks in advance
