I do not think that a exhaust brake is needed with the automatic transmission. Have towed my 34' fifth wheel up and down 6 degree hills and have no problem holding the speed. Attended a Banks seminar last year and the instructor said that a exhaust brake was not needed with 6.0 diesel with the six speed automaitc transmission.
