He's right, it's the front seal.

Another dude, locally, says it is the enternal pump inside of transmission, it isnt holding pressure so this is why the leak. We need to replace whole transmission. Cost anywhere from 1800.00 to 2100.00 plus labor.

He's looking to make a lot of $$$$.
It is possible that you need a rebuild, especially if you have a lot of miles. But if it works fine other that the leak, you can probably get away with just changing the seal. Now that does require removing the trans and a partial teardown to change it, so $900 doesn't sound out of line.
