actualy, you probably will have a bit of adjustment on a 16 foot trailer.. the have a slightly shorter wheelbase than a long box truck. I've seen a long box truck on a 12 foot trailer a few times, but there is only maybe 1-2 inches of adjustment front to back with it..
In all reality, I'd be more worried about weight than length with a 16 footer.
