When supply exceeds demand, then the normal order and ship time is about 6 to 7 weeks, maybe 8 weeks if you're out in the sticks far from the nearest railhead.
But when demand exceeds supply, you have to "get in bed" with your dealerperson to be sure the dealership:
- has unused allocation to order that truck, so that Ford can schedule your order for immediate production.
- puts an order priority on your order that will assure your truck is first in line for orders from that dealership.
Most dealerpersons won't tell you the truth about allocation in times when demand exceeds supply. So be certain you use a dealerperson you can trust to tell you the truth.
As part of your deal, be sure the dealerperson assigns order priority 10 to your order, and includes order code C09 in the order. The C09 is for a priced dealer order receipt acknowledgment (DORA). Be sure the dealer agrees to give you a copy of the priced DORA within one workday after the dealer processes the order to Ford.
With that done, you can normally expect delivery within 8 weeks. However there are things outside the control of the dealership that can slow down your order, including a commodity restriction on some component you ordered. Strikes by some labor union at the assembly plant, rail company, trucking company, etc. Dually trucks can be slow to get hauled from the railhead to the dealership because only one can be loaded on each car hauler trailer.
To assure the fastest possible delivery, order your truck from Bobby Williams and have him "drop ship" the new truck to a dealer near you. Bobby has lots of allocation, and knows how to get you the truck delivered to you as close to your need date as possible. Bobby also keeps you advised as to exactly what is going on with your order, including the latest estimated delivery date.
