Well thats where I always start is changing the filters, I have cured a lot of things like you said with just changing the filter. To prime the system on my old Deere Backhoe it has a leaver on the fuel pump that you need to move up and down to get a prime on the pump. I also fill the filter with fuel when I change it. I use the prime leaver for about a minute before I attempt to crank the motor, and BAM starts right up. Hope this helps. Angelo
