My 2 cents (I sold Fords in New Orleans for about 6 years, sales, new sales manager, used sales manager and Finance manager).
Got to your local dealer tell him you want to order a truck and you are willing to pay invoice price(or even tell him you will pay $500 less, the worst they can say is "No"). This should not be a problem. It will be lower than X-plan. At invoice price the dealer is still making holdback,FDAF money and other dealer spiffs. Also, if you finance thru thru te dealer he will make money there even if you take the special rate. Dealers get paid a flat fee for doing the financing at a special rate usually around a few hundred dollars. If you order the truck and take delivery within thirty days of ship date, it will not be on the dealer floor plan so, he will have no actual costs involved in the vehicle other than the vehicle itself.
If your dealer will not show you the invoice price, he is hiding something. Everytime they "build" a truck to spec out, it gives the Retail price (MSRP) and invoice price. There is a way of printing the spec sheet to show only the Retail price, or they can show the retail and invoice price with no problem. These prices, however, are subject to change before delivery and the dealer hs no control if Ford raises or lowers the retail and/or invoice price before delivery.
my 2 cents.
Hit 'em low, the worst they can say is "No".
