turbo noise
I had a similar issue with my 08 450. My mechanic said it was probably the pressure from the turbo trapping and trying to release the gas inside. I am explaining this a little wrong, but it was a while ago when I asked him. He also said that he couldn't hear what I was hearing.
I am at 23k now. the noise stopped at about 16k for me and only very rarely does it happen. I am waiting to Banks out my truck anyway, maybe even with better turbos.
