Nice story, but he's got no game
Same with Bo Bice. No real identity and totally ordinary..
I'm not really a fan of any former idol, but Kelly Clarkson took the ball and ran with it for a few years.
She and Carrie are really the only talents I have seen on Idol.
The real magic in making music is song writing. If you can write hits, and can sing, you have control, as well as something unique to sell.

And sadly, today very few have those qualities, on Idol and otherwise, music is manufactured these days. It is written, composed and performed by extraordinarily talented folks who never see the light of day in the media, it is produced in the most technological, expensive studios that one has ever seen. I guess what I am saying is that "they" can make anyone a star if "they" so choose. I got some sage words from a Nashville producer on a cruise a few years back, he said to me, "It's not about how well they write or sing, it's how they look in jeans, we can make anyone sound good with the production talent we have". I believe him. No wonder most live performances today are technologically enhanced, they can't do it on their own.
