Ford is offering its rebuilt trannies for your truck with a 3 year 100K mile warranty. Just put one in the SRW and paid $2K for it. The previous rebuild had a measly 3 year 36K mile warranty but ran for 167K miles.

Did the OD light on the shifter flicker at all? You could bring it to Ford and they could check it out for you. I had them check out the SRW a few years ago when the original tranny failed and they charged me something like $50 to check it out.

The 01's were notorious for the mechanical diode failure like C.C. said.
