I'm afraid too many trucks will be effected and Ford will just refuse to fix it, especially if it's going to be an expensive fix.
This thing sounds like my old Ford with 280k on it.

Welcome to the annoying tick. I posted the SSM from Ford a few weeks ago on here and engineering is still investigating. I have been going to the dealership every week to complain, which is probably doing no good. I have read where GM had this similar concern and stated the same thing, that it is normal......harmonization of the crankshaft / bearings / block. That what produces the horrible "spark plug wire arcing" tick! I hear it mostly on deceleration and at idle when the engine is hot (same as described in the SSM). Everyone around me can hear this when I am idling.
After reading other websites, I have found that some trucks will exhibit this right after an oil change or fuel filter change. Approximately 1500 miles after the filter change, the noise will disappear and then re-appear when the filter change is done again. Some dealers have had success changing the #5 and #7 piston and connecting rod to eliminate it.
This noise is driving me crazy and I am losing it trying to figure out why Ford / International cannot work faster to come up with a fix (not a band-aid). A simple PCM update / flash will not fix this concern - in my opinion!
