Mandatory Evacuation?
What is the legal basis for authorities enforcing a "mandatory evacuation" as a result of a natural or man made disaster?
If law enforcement showed up on my porch and ordered me to leave I would be very tempted to point out the NO TRESPASSING signs that they had passed to get to my door and tell them that the only mandatory evacuation would be them as they got the heck off of my property.
The followup question is, if they order me to leave my property and my property later is burgled while I am not there to defend it, are they liable? I'm sure the answer is no.
