I don’t know how well the additives were kept up with. I think the coolant that was in there was the extended life. But I really don't know. However the proper coolant and additive is in there now since I just had Ford do a flush. All I know that is when the engine overheated, the problems started then. However, the engine was rebuilt at 260k miles and there is now 325k on the engine. The previous owner bought it from the engine shop at 260k rebuilt and sold it to me at 325k. I spoke to the engine shop who rebuilt it said that they checked the cylinder walls for cavitation and didn’t see any. Now can I see the cylinder walls when the head is off through the coolant holes in the block?
