IDM or UVC Harness issues
Long time no see to lots of you. It has been awhile since I have been able to get on here, lots have changed since last visit. Very nice though!
Anyways, my truck (2000 F350) has thrown the P1316 code at me. It did it off and on one day then the next day the SES light came on and stayed on this time. I searched the code and found out is has to do with the IDM, so I purchased one off of eBay (should be here in a couple of days) started doing research on how to replace it and found out that a lot of people have had the same issues and it was the UVC Harness and not the IDM. Well I already have the IDM coming so I will try that first and if thats not it I will start tearing down to the Valve Covers. (Assuming there is one Harness on each side, I haven't found a clear answer on that yet)
Now here is the tricky part, I don't have an ohm meter and I have very little money. So it would actually be cheaper for me to replace both Harnesses (assuming there is two) at $36.03 a piece (quoted from Int.) also assuming it isn't 100% necessary to change the gaskets ($72/pc), than it would be for me to take it to ford to have them code ($75). Now if I HAVE to change the gaskets can Ford actually tell me witch side is bad? So I hopefully only have to do one side?
I know this is a lot of text but thank you for bearing through it and I hope you can help me make the most economical decision.
