The UVC harnesses (one on each side) are prone to come loose, causing the P1316 code that you got. The only thing that particular code means is to retreive the codes stored in the IDM. The Ford dealer can do that for you and tell you which injector circuit(s) are affected. Or you might be able to find a buddy with a PSD capable scan tool. Many shops have them and may charge less to do the test for you. It takes only 10 minutes or so to do, assuming you have the correct scan tool. The other option is to rent a multimeter (or buy a cheap one). What you are looking for is continuity thru the injector circuits on the valve cover gasket outer connector.
Your problem sounds very much like the typical UVC problem. Generally, the only thing you have to replace is the harness itself. Unless the electrical connector pins passing thru the VC gasket are burnt or corroded, the gaskets are reuseable. They have o-ring type seals, and rarely leak.
Hope that helps.
I think you'll just have a spare IDM, as yours is likely still good.
