Not trying to be argumentative here, but diesel has been historically lower in price than gasoline, or at least close to the same. Seems strange to me that with the onset of ULSD production, the per-gallon cost sailed past that of gasoline, and is currently almost 25% more now. Coincidence?
A windfall tax would be a disaster, that cost would only be passed on to us as well. Someone needs to figure out a way to squeeze both OPEC and the refineries in such a way that they can't simply retaliate by raising prices, although that is unlikely the way the market is structured. For now, we're just screwed.
