I change mine at 5,000 miles. The first change was done at 3,500 miles. I used AMSOIL, but then went with Motorcraft 15W-40 conventional. I can get it in WI for $12.98 per 5 quart jug...so with filter it comes to $54 per oil change. I do not use the book's recommendation to change after more miles, even though over 75% of miles are highway. Because of how much fuel enters the oil (about 1 qt per 5,000 miles), I can not see that being good for the engine.
