Likely it's just what 03six0 said....axle wrap allowing drive line angle to change & causing the U-joints to bind and shudder. Ford knows about it. Some design for a heavy duty truck, eh?

See thread below (trans shudder under load). I'm picking up my truck tomorrow morning from Grody Ford, Buena Park, CA. They've shimmed the drive line & want me to try it. We shall see! I'll post results on my previous thread when I complete a test run.
