Getting what you pay for (#1 diesel?)
Here in Canada, the gap between Diesel prices is almost nonexistant --- they're about the same price. That is to say, ... diesel drivers in Canada are not hurting "as much" as our US counterparts.
But we still shop around for the best price.
For awhile now I've suspected that some of the "low price" diesel stations might be serving up #1 instead of #2 in the summer --- because it's cheaper and they can advertise a lower price. Obviously, the people working the pumps know (or claim to know) nothing about this, but I'm seeing a consistently lower milage number from my truck when running on low price diesel than when running on (say) Sunoco gold diesel.
(not that I believe there's anything particularly magic about Sunoco gold, but it's often a good price at a station near me and I am using it as a comparison).
