Truck details are below. In the winter I averaged the same as the summer, so long as it was a long trip on the highway. Around 16.5 to 17 mpg. It now has over 20,400 on the odometer. I drive like a mature man, not some kid in his dad's truck. Towing 8,000 lbs total a 7 x 16 v-nose tag, I get 11 mpg with regular winds, as MN is almost always windy. With a tail wind, could get close to 12 or so I am sure. Like others have said, if you are looking at fuel costs when looking at a new SD, look at another truck. If you want a quiet ride, lots of power, and a girl getter, keep an open AMEX on you for the fuel stops. If you take any input, get a long bed not only for the bed space, but the larger tank (38 gal.).
