Oil leak

last thursday i noticed some small quarter size oil marks in the driveway.
my truck is a 2008 f250sd powerstroke 6.4. with only 4000 miles.
Imediately called the dealer and they looked at it today.
They say it is the bed plate leaking and oil is getting between the engine and tranny and leaking out the vent.
My delima is that i live in west virginia and have to be in california on july 14 to start work on a new job. will be there for 10 months. they said i can leave it and they will start work on it but it could take up to 3 to 4 weeks to get it back.( will probably need a new engine) they called their hotline and they said i can still drive the truck and it wouldnt hurt anything as long as i keep an eye on the oil level. i have been driving it and the oil level has not dropped on the dipstick in 5 days of driving. will get it fixed in california.
even let me see the paper work where it says it is ok to drive it and they know i am headed west and it would not void my warranty.
Has anyone else had an oil leak caused by this?
