A lot of "bed plate leaks" are actually misdiagnosed. It is more likely coming from somewhere else like the dipstick tube o-ring.
Also, you won't need a new engine. They can replace this seal. Engine will have to be removed from the truck, tho.
Another thing - there's no way the oil can get between the engine and tranny and leak out the vent.
