I dont know too much about the 08 V10s but I do here good things. I have had diesels and V10s and I love them both. I will say this, the V10 is definetely not a slug. Mine has plenty of power and I have very few mods. I get about 11.5mpg in the city and about 14 on the highway, but I have a 6" lift with 35s and only 3:73 gears. The main reason why I made the switch is because I have more faith in the gas burners. My father has been working on Fords for 45 years and owns his own auto repair shop. I can't tell you how many V10s have come in for non engine related repairs and the motors are original with over 300k on them. The diesels last a long time too but if it goes down, you better have deep pockets to get it fixed. If you are just hauling heavy and not towing I personally would choose the V10, but that is just my opinion.
