Mjcloud: There is no such thing as a stupid question, it’s the stupid answers you have to worry about. I ordered the switches on my truck, but don’t have the camera. Please, if your not comfortable working with electronics, find a friend or expert in your area that can assist you. You sure don’t want to damage the electronics in your truck. I thought someone on the forum would have done this already and pass on the knowledge. I haven’t had a time to wire my switches yet. Also a shop that puts in remote starts, alarms and car radio’s could be a good source of information.
As far as the diode, you can get them at Radio Shack for one place, as for the where the diode is put in the circuit, I have not looked at the wiring print (But I know there around). I’m not sure if the camera turns on when power is applied to the camera. So I’m guessing right now, but I would think that the diode should be put in the camera power feed wire to stop back feed to the truck electronics and possibly the load side of the up fitter switch for extra protection. When time permits I’ll see if I can find you the necessary info.
